New Site On Its Way

I'm so excited to tell you that the new site is coming...TONIGHT!


My sweet friend, Ashley, worked hard on the graphics...she's genius, I tell you.  It was wonderful to work with a talented friend who got me to translate onto my site.  Now Tony is hard at work transferring our content to Wordpress and designing a jammin' place for us to hang out.


You know how the WWW works; it may cause a few minutes of down time, and not everyone will see the new look at once.  Don't fret...just keep going to www.perfectlyimperfectblog.com and eventually you'll see it.  You can certainly let me know if you have any questions.


The good news?  If you are a Google Follower or RSS Subscriber via email or a feedburner, you should NOT lose your subscription!  Certainly if you haven't seen posts from me in a few days, hop on over and re-subscribe/follow.  This should be the exception and not the rule; we are anticipating quite a smooth transition.  (One small change...if you subscribe by email you'll see part of the post in your inbox, and will be able to click to head here to the site to read the rest.)


Want to know a little bit about the changes?


Well, first things first...It's going to look different.  :-)


I'm hoping you'll love it as much as I do.  I know it's always hard when my blogging buddies change their look, but I always get used to it and I see them in their designs.  This new design just feels like me, and I cannot wait to share it with you.


The layout will be a little different, too.  You'll see more than one post on the home page, and while it took me a long time to get used to that look, I found that I could navigate those sites really well and finding content was much easier.


The navigation bar at the top will hopefully provide some serious organization,  having posts broken into categories.  There will be one Project Gallery for Before and After, Furniture Makeovers, Our Home, Styling, Crafts, Tutorials, Videos, and PI Restoration.  There's a spot for reflections...a.k.a. all my journal-type posts and the spot where I'll slowly post the novel I began 6 years ago!!  (I may be just as excited about that one as anything else!)


Of course, there will be a spot for the eBook, and the newest feature...a Community page.  I know it will probably take a while for us to get used to this feature, but I'm SO excited to provide a place where we can all comment and discuss treatments, finishes, etc.  I can't wait for the first question to be answered by another brilliant reader.  Because that's what I want this site to always be...a community.  I've created a Flickr Group where you can upload all of your new projects and share what you did...this page will sort of be replacing Style Feature Saturday and we'll have occasional, more specific link-ups to celebrate your work!


I imagine some of you will see the new design some time tonight or in the morning, and hopefully everyone will be seeing it by Tuesday morning.  Of course, not every single thing will be perfect; it will take a little more time for me to organize every bit of content from this site, etc., but Tony really has most of it done.


Because of the site being ready before I thought it would (Tony, you're the man!!), we'll wait to release the book until it's done.  It's probably also a good idea to join the email list for news on the book since all this is going on....you can do that HERE.


Some of you have left me the kindest comments on that list and encouraged me in ways I just don't have words for.  I  have to say that it continually blows my mind any of you awesome folks read anything I have to say and it does feel like things are coming together for this dreamer.


And it's a pretty cool feeling.
