Back in December I shared visions of painted doors dancing in my head.
The splash of color was headed for that laundry room door, the perfect place for a pop of color (matt's fav home decor slang ;-).
And when I found this,
inspiration for color and treatment struck.
If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I ripped that door down by myself one afternoon and went to town.
And here she is, in all her "pop of color" glory.
The color is a deep aqua/turquoise....Valspar's Alpine Valley.
I dry brushed it on so it would have the beauty of imperfection and wear. I'm still on the lookout for a salvaged/unique door knob, as nothing has totally suited me just yet.
I'm hoping to remedy that this week.
:-)
While shooting the door, I realized I hadn't really shown you my antique shopping basket. I have a few of these now, and I love this one hanging above the laundry door in the kitchen. It's usually filled with pretty linens, chalkboard tags, and other random trinkets.
I'm also pretty mad about the way the door color looks against the Family Rules Art.
I also sprayed the hinges with Valspar's Silver Metallic.
Shame I didn't paint the screws.
I know I'm going to fall in love with this on a whole new level once the room is painted a soft white. That color will ground things and keep it interesting. I'm also thinking of painting the pantry door that sits beside this one...we'll see.
For now, though, I'm enjoying the change and the bit of personality it brings to the room.
Because personality is one thing a home shouldn't lack.
:-)
On a personal note, I'll be in and out this week, popping in from Blissdom to say hey, but you may not see me everyday.

The door is absolutely amazing! I love the color and how it changes to whole feel of the room. I bought some light blue/turquoise paint months ago to paint our doors and have never found the courage to do so. Right now they are white and so boring. I'm feeling a bit inspired now! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour aqua door is gorgeous. I'm thinking of painting some doors in my house various shades of aqua and olive. It's three doors pretty much side-by-side, so I didn't want to make them all the same colour. Thanks for sharing yours!
